We have a few June bugs. We used to have a lot more when I was a kid. Now we are blessed with Japanese Beetles instead.

Cheap chicken feed
Last year my chickens quit eating. They kept running to the far side of the pasture and I couldn't figure out what the heck. So I ventured over there. Army worm infestation. They liked it.

Don't seem like we have as many as we used to, but what we had was about a month ago.

Our June bugs came in June like educated June bugs should. We have a different kind of bug now tho, (I decree these to be August Bugs) that is about 1/2 the size of a June bug, solid dull black, but with the same lack of flight skills as the June bugs. Fly about till they run into something and that's the end of their aviator lives...earth bound till they die of thirst or starvation...most are small enough and some are unlucky enough to crash land into the bug zapper...quite a light show for a few minutes. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

We had a short season and light population of them this year. Here, the June bugs are all brown.

Large numbers of love bugs will take the paint off the vehicles. I carry a squeegee and windshield cleaner when I travel in the south.
