Late yesterday afternoon we took a drive up the canyon. Our excuse was we were going snake hunting. We never sighted a single snake, which is actually normal. However, we did see 43 bighorn sheep (of course we had forgot the camera) and 32 deer. This morning 8 deer came walking across the bridge and up the driveway. Four of them were smaller bucks. The wife and I got to talking about the variety of wildlife we have been seeing lately. A couple days ago I saw a river otter that jumped into the irrigation canal. We saw a beaver in the river. A weasel ran across the driveway. Lots of quail, pheasants, chuckars and Hungarian partridge, and turkeys have all been seen in the last week or so. We are over run with wildlife.

I enjoy seeing the wildlife, besides hogs, night herons or geese.

You got a heck of a nice place there Dave. Nothing like natural beauty just outside your front door. I like seeing lots of different wildlife, let’s you know that nature is happy there.

I was reading an excerpt from a Teddy Roosevelt book a few days ago. Said the wildlife, no matter what kind just stood and watched as he traveled thru the western states and weren't afraid of humans on horseback at all.

I guess so, tho I haven't visited any suburbs in so long I don't know. Back when I lived in San Angelo tho, it wasn't unusual to see deer walking down the city streets right after dark and one walked right into an open door of walmart one night.
I suspect there are other kinds of 'wildlife' walking Houston's streets.........

Seen a bear on the farm earlier. I haven't seen a bear yet. I really wouldn't expect to on my place. It is pretty open here. The bears are to the north and west of here where there is timber. Although neighbor D was talking about seeing bear tracks near his house which is about 4 miles to the east of me. It is a long ways from his house to a tree.
