On our drive today we came on three different bands of bighorn sheep. They were made of of ewes, lambs, yearlings, and young rams. Totaled around 90 sheep. All three bands included one ewe wearing a collar. The picture of the collared ewe was from the second group. You will notice how spooky they are. A person has to slow down when passing them to keep from running one over.

We see sheep about every time we head down to go shopping. It’s always fun to see/dodge them. I took this picture along the road a few years ago.

Are those the kind of sheep that are endangered and to get a license to kill one it cost $thousands of dollars? Growing up I read every hunting article written by Jack O'Conner and still have a book written by him somewhere.

Growing up I read every hunting article written by Jack O'Conner and still have a book written by him somewhere. I don't know that they are endangered. But they are somewhat limited in numbers. Here the tag isn't very expensive but it is a draw and the odds of being drawn aren't real good. Some states do have an auction tag. You better have deep pockets to win one of those tags.
