People aren’t hungry enough to keep them in check.
If people were truly hungry you wouldn’t find a hog or deer, but little Debbie and EBT fixed that problem

I've had some that was edible after a night in the deep pit but I've also had some that we pulled out of the pit and dumped over the fence for the dogs to eat and burned the pit for twenty four hours to get rid of the smell. After the last few I've tried I'm fine with using them for predator bait. That way they don't completely go to waste.
