Greybeard that fish looks at least two pounds underweight. Probably since it has been so dry the pond has lost all its cover and nothing for them to eat. Kind of like my cows. Cross, try a plastic frog around any grass or moss if you have any. Plenty of cover, most of the pond is covered over will lilypads right now and all kinds of grass except out in the deepest areas and reeds in the shallow fingers. and yes, under weight. No drought here. I got 19" rain on 18 Sept this year, and it was a very wet July. The only month that was dry was August. . This is google earth of last spring pretty early before the lily pads began to grow again. Except for the area in white, it's solid pads now. Same fish different view. I wear 12 1/2 boot. The problem is that it is overstocked with bass by a big margin. I just don't fish it much and the kids from down the road that do fish it don't take anything out of it..they put them all back because they don't want to clean them.

Yeah that's what I thought, I just don't like to criticize someone else's operation when mine are the same way. My ponds are hard to fish because of all the vegetation hence the remark to Cross to use a frog. I have a bad hydrilla problem.

If it's a pond and no water running out of it there are sprays to help control the weeds.

Yeah I know but they aren't cheap and I have a lot of big ponds. I even went to a class put on by T A&M to learn the best methods. Sprays work good for surface weeds, not so much for submerged like Hydrilla. The pour in's are pretty expensive if your pond is large and you can screw it up and kill your fish if not careful. Even with spraying, you really can safely do about 1/3 at a time. Its on my list to do, just not a priority.
