P I filmed this from about 40 feet of my house a couple hours ago. They’re pretty fearless when their in heavy rut.

They can be fun this time of the year. A friend of mine posted a video of a herd he was calling at. A calf literally came up and licked his bow. He never got a shot at the bull but having a calf do that would beat shooting a bull.

I enjoy screwing with them during the rut more than hunting them. Hunting them can turn into work. I enjoyed hearing him bugle during the night while I was trying to sleep. My wife took the videos with my phone while I snapped some awesome pictures. Only problem was when we quit I found out I didn’t have a card in the camera. Hate it when that happens.

The weather changed, it cooled down and it rained here last night. This morning I saw two dead bulls (or pieces of them) that the guys in camo were loading in pickups. One was a dandy 6 point and the other was a mature 5 point. Neighbor L was just here. He has been riding for cows and said they are bugling heavy now.

We chased them all over last week, Had 35 bulls within 125 yards but couldn't get any quality shots. Hunting pressure during/after the weekend of the 14th really killed things, scattered elk all over the unit and made them hard to close the distance on.
