It appears our wet pattern isn't going to end. Want to provide some more protection this winter so trying to come up with some super cheap ideas for windbreaks. I've used old equipment, stock trailers, hay. I own a set of free standing pipe panels, thinking about putting that wind break/tarp like material on those.
Ideas?

Take apart or cut up round grain bins that have outlived their usefulness.
We had a number of the free standing windbreaks actually blow over this summer.

I've been thinking about moving the portable corral to the west 80 this winter (where we keep the weanlings) and securing tarps or some of that snow or wind netting. That said, there is a lot of woods for cover and it seems they automatically migrate there, even when we put out bedding. The other pastures have a lot of protection - fortunately.

Old bottomless tank panels, if they're not set in cement.

Cedars are pretty easy to come by here. From what I was told, couple that had my grandparents home place took seeds with them when they moved KS in the 40's.
I figure they made a few enemies in time, so I'd hate to suggest that. But they make some great shelter from the elements.
I'm sure that didn't help you any, but your question made me think of that.
