Maybe this will help someone if they have an issue similar.
Yesterday I was leaving a job site going thru several 4 way stops before the main hwy. When the truck did a hard bump and went to 4th gear. Check engine light came on so I drove to ace hardware and got got reader out , first code was p0720 which is input or output sensor. I drove to auto parts and bought both 33 bucks each. Installed them in parking lot. Cleared code and still in limp mode . Went back to office and did some research on the diesel forums with not much luck. Stopped back byauto parts and bought 2 gallon of oil and filters another 100 bucks . On the way home 2k rpm 50mph I monitored trans temp. Stayed at 156 which I thought was odd. Got home pulled pan valve body and solenoid pack. Oil was not burnt but was dark. Found a service bulletin on ohm specs. Checked all the pins but they were close to specs. Auto parts stores says they have the pack but not a single review was good and on forum alot of folks talked about bad results but it was only about 250 bucks. This morningI called the dealership and they had a new oem 520.00 bucks . I made decision to spend extra on it because if a cheaper one failed I would have more than the single cost in another plus new fluid. I bench tested them side by side and they both ohm'd out the same except one pin tot sensor. (Transmission oil temperature) ahh ha. Temp was not reading correct yesterday. This made me think I was on the right road . Cleaned everything up good installed new solenoid on valve body. Took extra care putting it back together fill with oil. Cleared the code and cranked it up. It is out of limp mode shifts good seems that the problem is fixed. I only drove a few miles mainly to get oil up to temp to check level. The magnet did not have anything out of ordinary on it either.
