Last Thursday I saw a cow off to herself. Get up lay down acting like one does when they calve. I went out to check and she was gassy and rapid breathing. Saturday I found her arched neck coughing , foaming, breathing hard . Caught her drenched with corn oil and big dose of tetracycline. Brought her to house penned her and figured it was something stuck in throat and planned on putting her in chute Sunday morning. Sunday she was breathing better and ate some feed and hay so I left her alone till afternoon , when I went to give her another shot she hit me in stomach and chest. Run me up fence several times. Got the banimine in her and fed her again . Was thinking it could be rabies and was gonna call the vet Monday morning. Monday morning she met me at feed trough. No coughing breathing better. Monday afternoon even better. Tuesday morning normal and Tuesday afternoon normal . Same this morning. Perplexed as to what was going on. Anaplas has been mentioned to me. But IDK.

They do get aggressive with Anaplas that has progressed but at that stage they generally die. It can, however, be successfully treated with tetracycline in the early stage (will still always test positive). I recently had a cow that was hunching, walking funny. She did have a slightly elevated temp, tested positive for anaplas & initially the vet suspected some sort of cardiac disease because her heartbeat was muffled and he could see/feel her jugular vein pulse. Hit her with LA and she's back to normal.
Any time I see a cow arched, foamy & breathing hard I immediately suspect hardware but your girl seems to have made a miraculous recovery. I got nuthin!

Anaplas, or possible toxin that made her loopy. Any yellowing of the gums, bag, or genitals?

Anaplas, or possible toxin that made her loopy. Any yellowing of the gums, bag, or genitals? No yellowing, I suspected poisoning because of drought . Nothing else is showing any signs. This morning she was still fine. Shook her head at me like she wanted to run over me . I turned her back out and she was out scrounging with the others.
