Okie, that sounds like a smart horse. I like a horse that messes with you like that. Just as long as they don't get too dangerous about it. Like those that think you aren't paying attention and shy of something that is not there. It keeps you supple. Well it did when I was a kid. I have been watching colts bucking and crow hopping around. Of course I am watching some of the older cowboys ride them and they have something I had never thought of. I used to refuse to grab a saddle horn. Now, they are telling of what they have on their saddles to grab hold of. Some have their lariats attached really tight so they can grab that. Then others have one or two "night latches" to grab. I didn't even know what a night latch was.
This older Mexican saddle sits good, and the leather is going to hold up if Joe gets nutty. It has a little bit taller horn, that is thinner and the cap points upward. I have never seen one like it before. It actually looks a little odd to me, but it looks perfect to grab hold of. That night latch looks just a bucking strap handle. It is a rolled and stitched piece of leather. I started to make one, but I could not make the leather the right size that my hand felt strong holding on to.
If your horse would let you tote a chain saw, then you could easy take a leaf blower after he had wallowed in deep dust and blow that out of his hair. It seems no matter how much you brush on that, it just keeps spreading further around. Then it gets all in the sweat in the saddle pads and such.
Yep, that horse you had was a special one.
I'd sure hate to hit that hornet or nest you had in your car when riding your horse. That would be a nightmare.
