Ive shared this a ton on CT but my father in law just got off the ship off the coast of Japan. The princess ship. 540 people confirmed on his ship, 2 have died. He and his wife have both tested negative. They have been tested twice now. They are now at a military base in Ontario for another 2 week quarantine. When they return home to BC they will quarantine 2 more weeks. He left to Japan the first week of January before we had heard of Coronavirus. He was supposed to be home end of January. Now we wont be able to see him until end of March at the earliest. Totally crazy experience for our family

My airline pilot friend is still, by direction, self quarantined in his apartment in Shanghai. Chi Coms are holding all their passports. He won't be able to leave until the end of March as the airline he works for put everyone on 'furlough' and they can't leave. He (and almost everyone else there) can only go outside long enough to give a list of things he wants/needs from the store to an officially appointed gopher. Even when he gets to leave, he is of the understanding, that he will have to spend another 2 wks quarantined in Japan. He's not been able to correspond very much, as Chinese censorship has tightened up considerably and the only way is is getting by it at all is with VM.

China is a great place to travel to tho. Asia in general has given me some of the greatest travel memories I've had. I wont be going anytime soon but I hope to take my son in the next few years. Travel would be good for many people on this board. May actually let them realize that not everyone has their same views haha

I've seen enough of the world to satisfy my curiosity. I don't care if I ever leave the state again.

The mortality rate for this virus is actually what......2%? In a country that only has state controlled media, how do you really know what the mortality rate is? If that's true, and it very well might be... but then why is the country locked down?

It's locked down to keep both the morbidity rate and mortality rate to a minimum. I guarantee, that if they had not locked it down, the spread both within China and all over the world would have been far greater than it is now. Probably exponentially greater and, the same ones that now are decrying the lack of free movement would then be screaming for someone's head on a pike because the spread was so great. Ignorant people consider themselves first and foremost and to hell with the greater good and everyone else's safety and well being.
People on this board are very much aware that other people have personal views that are different from their own personal views. Expecting anyone tho, to not comment on those views is nothing short of demagoguery. This board's founding, was in great part, based on the principle of free speech (within reason).

At least you've seen the ocean Darryl. I've met quite a few people who have never seen the ocean and a bunch that can't even swim. I enjoy traveling but there's enough for me to see right here in North America.

Just send all of us morons some postcards as you move up in the world's status of guru. I'm actually happy doing what I'm doing without council and un-requested advice.

What a passive aggressive ridiculously unnecessary comment.
