Because people are going to be contained to their homes and their kids are going to be home and they are going to go through it 10 x faster than normal. Plus, most are lucky if they have more than enough to get through each week.... be it toilet paper or paper towels, or frozen pizza's.....

Well, yes, diarrhea is one of the symptoms in about 30% of the cases studied, but that isn't why people are buying toilet paper. Ill informed people are still trying to equate this illness with the flu and many think "stomach flu" (which usually isn't really influenza at all but a norovirus). It's not just tp..it's everything. TP simply got the headlines because it was.......odd.

Tennessee first started out one day last week with 9 cases of the virus. The next day it turned into 18. The third day reached 32. I checked again this morning, and it is still holding at 32.
I have not been to the grocery store since all of this started happening. But I feel that I need to go and buy some canned beans and tang like I once stated. I am going to hold off on the oil and cotton balls for right now. I do comb my hair in the morning, and once before we go feed. And after I wash my face at night, so I hope that works for the method angusrancher spoke of. Ha-ha-ha!! I can do a lot with Kidney Beans as I like to sprinkle cheese on top of them in a bowl, and nuke them for 1:30 seconds in the microwave and you have something tasty to eat.
I thought I would go in the middle of the night so I would not have to see all of those worried people acting like others had coronavirus. But just read where WalMart is going to be shutting their doors from 11:00 PM to 6AM in the morning because they are going to so some deep cleaning of the store in those hours.
Are any of you experiencing empty shelves in stores where you live? Or is is just in the big cities where everyone gets paranoid quicker because of high number of populations?
I did stop in the Dollar General Store day before yesterday after we got through feeding the cattle at the other farm to pick up a few things. But the shelves there were full. I picked up several cans of black-eyed peas.
I just wondered what it was like in rural America vs the big cities that the media always reports on.

Last count I heard as of last night KY had 18 confirmed cases and 31 tests awaiting results. We are in a fairly rural county bordering the the states’s second largest city Lexington. The confirmed cases in Lexington as well as in two other adjoining counties. So far none in ours. We went to Walmart midweek and toilet paper was totally gone. Other wise there appeared to be decent supply of most other things but they were stocking and cleaning in the middle of the day which was different. Yesterday we went to Kroger’s and the fruit and vegetable sections had about been picked clean. No bananas, no apples, very few blueberries. No potatoes or onions, no carrots except for small bunches of high priced organic ones. All of the chicken was sold out. Other shoppers said they were even out of canned potatoes. No toilet paper or paper towels there either. We stopped at a SAV A Lot on the way home and my wife found some carrots there and spaghetti noodles that she forgot at Kroger’s. One of our friends from church stopped in that store earlier in the week to see if they had toilet paper and it was empty but a man in front of him had a buggy full and offered to sell him some for a profit. I have never seen anything like this. Our church has suspended Wednesday night meals and prayer meeting and Sunday evening service. They did meet today at church time for some hymns and prayer service.

But I do know that from here on out I'm going to refer to people that are in panic mode as "asswipes". I think it's a rather fitting title.

Want to shut something down meaningful, shut the national media down for 30 days and watch 80% of the world's problems go away.

An employee gal went into town, and said it was pretty well out of TP, Gatorade, bottled water, etc..., which is stupid because we have good wells that aren't going to dry up. It's mostly like a reservation border town and am certain that they did have an adequate supply of alcohol. Rapid City, and Sioux Falls on the Eastern side were really low on TP, baby formula, etc.... Schools are called off, and college will resume a week late and just be online.......which in this day and age tells me most college could be done online anyway and save a lot, but it would be harder for the commies to indoctrinate their students.

I was in Walmart on Friday wanting to replenish some of the things I had been eating while in "semi-confinement" from my ankle replacement surgery and the difficulty in getting around. Got the stitches out Thursday and the PA said I could increase the weight bearing and I just wanted out. The shelves were probably half empty.... have never seen so much stuff missing off the shelves. The schools here are shut down for the next 2 weeks, and any gathering of more than 100 people are banned. I haven't heard that restaurants or bars are closed yet..... I managed to pick up most of what I wanted, got some soup, some frozen vegs that I don't have in the freezer and some shrimp and seafood. There was a cooler full of milk though which I thought was funny. I have freezers full of chicken, beef, some hot dogs and bologna and stuff, some vegs, canned fruits, so I am not too concerned. I didn't even bother with TP as I keep a shelf full by buying when I can catch it on sale. Going in to get out a jigsaw puzzle to work on for awhile. Have to keep this ankle up some to keep the normal swelling down and I am tired of reading. Guess I ought to figure out how to hook up the DVD player and watch some of the multitude of movies I have.
Son was going to sell some cattle this week. Don't know the status of that yet.

To me and just my 2 cents is in my lifetime I have never seen such a over reaction to anything, this must be as bad as the plague, to me the saddest thing I learned about this week was the loss to slick, and I have never met him, doesn't matter, but my heart goes out to him for his loss.

Here is a link that explains what we're up against. It shows how fast the virus doubles. This shows the actions folks take may very well determine if there is hospital facilities for those who need them.
