I have the warmest coat that I purchased from Cabella's. It is a man's coat, camo, and I have been wearing it for 3 years, and is still in great condition. It has served it's purpose up to this year since I have been feeding square baled alfalfa hay. I can wear this coat outside in some pretty cold weather with a short sleeve shirt underneath it, a gaitor and a hat. Before I come back to the house, I often have to remove the gaitor as it just holds so much heat.
The exterior of the coat appears to have a very short wooly appearance, and I think it may be made out of recycled plastic bottle, but not sure. Every piece of hay that falls back on me sticks to the coat, and when I try to rub it off, it just breaks off the part I rubbed, and leaves small particles stuck in nap.
I do have a couple of Carhartt coats and the outside is made of a duck material, and they are smooth. But they are no where as warm as my Cabella hunting coat.
Men seem to be able to take cold better than women.
What coat are you wearing that keeps you warm?

If it really gets cold I wear a Dan's hunting coat with a zip in liner and hood. The hood also has a part that wraps around my face covering everything except for my eyes.

Add the detachable hood and your there. Duluth trading company has some great costs also. I bought the Dan's when I coon hunted every night. Now wear it bear hunting.

bull trader I will check out Duluth as well. I get catalogs from them all time. I would love to have a hood that only showed my eyes, but I have so much trouble with my glasses fogging over. I see double, so it is one of those things I have to wear. At times I will try to pull my gaitor up close to my nose, and it sends all the humidity of breathing right up to my glasses. When that happens, I just have to pull it all down and wait for the glasses to clear up.
I am going to look more once I come back in. Thank you so much for helping me. I do like the thought of that slick coat from Dans. I am constantly having to sweep up the area I take my Cabela's coat off. I thought if the coat was not as insulated as I was used to, I could purchase an inner lightweight quilted like liner to make it complete. The outside layer is what I really like.
This is the first night we are having lower temps. It will be 20*. I know the is funny to those who live where the temps go below 0.* It occasionally hits 0* here, but not a regular thing. The wind is what makes it so tough.
Thank you so much for your help!!!

Yes, that looks a lot like it. Mine might be a little older as I lose track of time. But yes, alfalfa hay leaves and sticks leave a big mess on the coat. Brrrr, it is cold outside today. We had to make a trip to Jackson TN, and on the way home, it snowed. Seems like it is summer one day and then in a weeks time, then turns full blown winter.
Time to get dressed up again to head back out to the barn.

bulltrader, I ordered the Briarproof Briar Boss coat and ordered the hood to go with it. If I find it is not quite as warm with the insulation, I will find a lightweight quilted coat to wear under it. I love that lining, so thank you for telling me about it.

I'm pretty sure you will be happy with it. I doubt you will have to double up on very many days. It's pretty wind proof and water resistant also. Let me know how you like it.

There is a Duluth store in Franklin TN if your ever close. I'm afraid I would spend way too much if I ever stop at one.
