In lined bibs I like the duluth trading company bibs better. And you can order them any length you desire.

Just buy a Filson coat and be done with it. Their motto is "You might as well have the best." They are that. They are American made. And they last forever. They have a lot of styles to meet your conditions.

Dave, they had some good looking coats. I am still experimenting with my Dan's coat. It was raining pretty good yesterday when I went out to feed. It shed all the water, and I still stayed warm. It was 43* and I wore only a sweatshirt underneath it. I got really hot when I was cleaning out manure, and had to unzip it completely. Had to throw baled alfalfa, and the chaff blew back all over on my wet coat. It was easy to take my hand and wipe it off. I can still say this is going to be the best coat to do the job at the barn. Will be putting out round bales on the tractor today. When I looked at the coat on the site, it did not look so layered up that I thought it would be this warm. The picture does not do the coat justice.

Also thinking about a pair of pants that would never be washed is hard to get by my wife.

I have two Filson wool coats. One is a Filson Cruiser that my Grandfather bought some time in the 40's. That is one heavy coat. It is in great shape but I don't wear it very often because it is just too heavy. The other is referred to in Alaska as a Halibut Jacket. I bought it in '09 to replace one I bought in '78 which I finally managed to wear out. I wore it on a trap line in Alaska, multiple outdoor uses, and it still looks good enough that I wore it to church this morning. I use to wear Filson Tin pants all winter falling timber. I would get 3 years out of a pair. That is 3 years of very tough wear. Filson cost a lot but worth every penny.

dave, that sounds like a great coat. I think I will go back and look at them again!! That is pretty neat you have your grandfather's coat.
I did not realize they had women's coats. I found one I liked, but they did not have it in my size. Then I found one in my size that I really liked, but the price did not fit my wallet!! Ha-ha!! $650 is just a bit higher than I can spend on a coat. But it sure was pretty!!

Bulltrader, How do you clean your coat when it gets dirty? It has been raining a lot here, and the hay chaff sticks to the outside. I have just been brushing it off, as I know that when I go back out in a day or so, it is just going to get in the same shape again. Brushing it off does a pretty good job but I know there is going to be a point that it needs to be cleaned better.

terrible to say but I don't remember the last time mine was cleaned if ever. I did hang it up and spray it with a water hosé once when I got it really muddy.

I went ahead and wrote them about how to clean it. I will let you know what they say. For some reason, putting it in the washing machines does not sound like a good idea for the outer layer. Spraying it off might be the way to go. But for right now, I do not want to be without it, so it may stay like it is until warmer weather shows up.

As I said before mine has a zip in liner that I can easily remove and wash. It includes sleeves and all so any part that would get sweaty can be washed. Let me know about the outer layer.

I wanted an expensive good coat that I could wear for years to come, but I never found anything. Either I don't like it, or it's not available in the color I want. I went to every store I knew, and there was nothing there. The only thing left is to look online.

I understand your pain. I can always use a brown coat, so as far as the color goes, I can settle on that. But when it comes to the other colors, I don't care for them. So brown and camo are what I grab. That Dan's coat is a UPS brown, with a touch of gold. But if you don't live in a place where the temps don't drop really low, you will get hot. I think I could wear that coat most anywhere with a short sleeve T shirt. Ha-ha!!
