Every day. During calving multiple times and I calve out my heifers in the barn so multiple times includes in the middle of the night. Is it necessary to check them so much? Probably not. But I take notes on which bulls are on which cows and keep a close eye on the calves. Is hubby able to help more now??

Going to the Cleveland Clinic later this month for a double chamber ablation.

I checked cows here in Oklahoma at least once a week. Some a little more often. Usually I'd see them more often just because I wanted to. In California I would literally only see some of them once or twice a year. I had a set in CA that I didn't see when I gathered to sell out. I spent days looking for them. Finally figured they were gone. The ranch had been sold for well over a year and I had been living here in Oklahoma for quite some time when I received a check from the Visalia Sales Yard for my missing cattle. They were running on a ranch ten miles as the crow flies and numerous fences plus about a thousand feet of elevation from where they were the last time I saw them. They had some slick yearlings with them that the rancher paired up with them and sold for me too. I understand(now) that there is a lot more stuff that can go wrong with cattle East of about I35 but I still expect them to work for a living.

No, actually less. But there is hope. Going to the Cleveland Clinic later this month for a double chamber ablation. good luck. Whats the nature of his heart problem if it isn't a private matter? Thanks GB. A-fib/A-flutter. Pacemaker was an epic fail: pneumothorax (punctured his lung), calibration was wrong, stitches still perforating the incision site, constant pressure. Pacing 45% of the time down from 85% (typical A-fib 2% - 5%) but upped his meds 4 times to the highest possible dose, which kicks his butt. Pick your battles? Ablation is his best chance of a relatively normal life. He's just a hot mess!

Mine, daily, at least once.
Where I used to work, 3500 acres, 1200 head, they were checked daily, heavy breds at least 2X, same with weaned. There were quite a few of us, who worked on that place.

There are still some good, honest people! Yes there are. It helps that CA is a hot brand state so the cows could not have been sold without a bill of sale but the slick calves sure could have. I happen to know who sent them in, though and he's as good as gold as most of my neighbors were. In that kind of country handling your neighbors cattle for them is just part of having cattle.
