The ranch i worked at growing up, we had cows we "maybe" saw twice a year and more than likely one of those times was from a Super Cub.

If it wasn't for catching the fishing bug in 1976 and giving up on cattle I'd say our paths would have definitely crossed. I'm sure he knows the Brown ranch and Carlton ranches, I had the privilege to grow up on those places. And Judge Adams gave me one chance because of my uncle and grandfather to straighten up and I took full advantage of it.

Dont know Brown, Carltons is who I worked for, Wayne, then Wes and now Wes's son is starting to handle alot of the cow work. Good people, Wes kept me out of a bunch of trouble giving me an opportunity out there, still pretty close to the entire family. Had many a good talk with Mr. Wayne after work, that man was a plethora of knowledge.

Last time I saw Wes he was a teenager? driving a Jeep across the C23 trestle. The Brown is across the road from the Culverhouse, it was part of the Blue Goose before citrus. Your blessed to have those memories and as time goes by you will cherish them even more. I still go to Jensen Beach and Boynton Beach a few times a year for business, it's not Florida anymore .

We do have our own challenges here. Today, I think it would be easier to breathe through a bowl of soup than it is outside. Got up this morning and all the windows on the house are fogged. Weather thingy said it was 95% humidity, so there ain't no way I'm leaving the a/c today.

Pasture season and calving season aren’t equal here.
When we are calving, we have eyes (cameras) on them 24 hours a day and even then, they’re walked through 2-3 times a day. But it’s not abnormal to calve 11-15 calves a night.

I like to check cows every day... I am fortunate that I have an older retiree that works for me and will check them daily as well. When it's calving season, we check on the 3-4 times a day.

Once a week this time of year sometimes linger when busy as long as they have a reliable source of water. Try for 2 to 3 times a week during winter depending on the weather

This time of the year around here lots of cows will go several months without seeing or being seen by human eyes. About mid September people start riding the hills to bring cows out. The majority are out by November but a few will hide good and not be seen until next spring. If it is a bad winter some may never be seen again.
