Great pics. Great work. Thanks for the glimpse of S. Dakota. From someone used to the rugged West Coast mountain terrain that flat land see for miles country is amazing. Sometimes we think it would be great to have some mountains to block the wind. Post some pictures if you can.

My granddaughter, she calls me "Big" I was supposed to be "Big Daddy" but from the time she started saying words it's always been "big" we found this frog when I was burning pastures next to the pond and she played with it for 2 hrs the day before and I wish I could have got her talking to it and kissed it on its head before she said what was in the video.

Nice long calf at the top. Bunch of good cattle up that way. But my gosh some of them are just tanks. Weigh up sales are a sight to see... saw a cow go through the other day that weighed 2170. I couldn't believe it. We moved our calving season back a few years ago. Weather isn't near extreme as yours, but some of them still just get too cold in January and early February. A few just started hitting the ground.

A few 2 year old heifers have calved. They're early, but it will get busy soon. Been getting snow and an East wind that just won't give up.

That face!!!! What a waste of a bull calf - if it was a heifer I would have kept her in a heartbeat, especially because of the lineage.

That face!!!! What a waste of a bull calf - if it was a heifer I would have kept her in a heartbeat, especially because of the lineage. How is your calving going? Looks good from the picture. We've got a winter storm watch Wednesday night through Thursday night. 26 so far and all healthy, halfway there. According to the gestation calculator we weren't supposed to start until 3/7. WRONG! One set of twins. Mama is doing her best but I'm supplementing the bigger one because she's being extra vigilant about the smaller one. And of course the heifer that completely dissed her calf. Molasses, Orphan No More, chute . . . nada. So I have a bottle baby and she'll be taking a ride. We've had a few nice days but if it doesn't stop raining I'm seriously gonna lose my shyt. So. Much. Mud!!!! For the 2nd year in a row. But I did start giving all the calves Inforce 3 along with First Defense when I tag day 1 so hopefully I won't get spanked with pneumonia again.

You're doing great! Hang in there and just think about the alternative to mud is a drought.....but at some point mud just gets the better of us all, I know.
