I made the mistake of commenting on a thread over there. What a can of worms. I got accused of a bunch of stuff that isn't true all because I happen to have a place with some BLM allotments. I haven't been banned but please remind me not to go over there and comment.

You free riding S.O.B no wonder your rolling in it. Graze your cattle on free land I pay for then just wait for the snow to drive them down to you. Load them on a trailer and sell them at a sale for $.40 a pound more than I can hope to get for mine. Glad your not good looking I would be jealous! Aah who am I kidding I am jealous I have seen pics of your place!
Cattle there and cattle here are so entirely different I don’t think people understand. Money is hard to make on them no matter where you raise them or how. It takes scale which is harder to do here but it is done. You don’t make a million on one you make a dollar on a million of them. It can be done,I haven’t figured out how yet but I know a few that have.

I really felt like telling him that it was 8 degrees this morning and never did get to 20 during the day. I saw two of my neighbors headed by on their way to spend the day searching for cows. So he should get his fat ass up here and climb on a horse and spend a day riding in the hill. Then he could tell me how easy it is when they peeled his frozen self off the horse. But I resisted the temptation. It would fall on ears that don't want to hear.

Now I am really jealous! Doesn’t sound easy but does sound like heaven to me. One of the few things Cowgirl 8 ever said that I appreciated was “ I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you”. Sure that wasn’t original to her but it covers a lot of situations like this.

It's pleasant being banned from there. It removes any temptation that I may have to speak truth to people that don't want to hear it. I didn't see it since I don't have any reason to hang around there but I'm the only person that I know that has had cattle east of the dry line and also out west. It's two completely different worlds. I love living here but strongly prefer running cows out west. There are advantages both ways but the two are not compareable other than using the same species of animal and even then it's a completely different type of animal.

I am often called some names but sane is not usually part of it.

It's all your fault Dave. Braggart. Then claimed it wasn't jealousy......right...The whole cattle price thing...it's your fault. I swear some over there are outright socialist. Never thought I would see cow people whine because someone was successful at it.. I can make a little profit on my cattle on the little land I own and a little more that is leased..not much, but it ain't as hard as some make it out to be. Pretty sure Alison's latest 'Thought for the day' entry is a dig at you too...or a very odd coincidence

I'm not a big poster anywhere, but I have worked for a lot of BTO in my area. There are people who exist, who believe that the BTO are all crooks, and just wake up and collect money. Read that thread Dave, don't know how BTO you are, but I have an idea what it took to achieve it. GS

i was talking to a guy the other day.. who owns 700 ac crop land.. and runs 60 hd dairy cattle.
we were talking about how all these guys need to take out full loans to cover all costs for the year.. and if the don't get it.. they are pretty much done.
he said one guy just went out.. everyone thought he was so amazing and rich.. had the newest stuff... he just trashed every field.. b/c he just rented them.. but no one cared because he was 'the man'...
well.. he went out.. only owned 50 acres.. no equipment.. i guess it was all leased.. almost nothing to sell except that tract.. people were pretty surprised.
anyway..we were talking about how that even happens.. they are getting nice government checks plus crop checks..
i think they have these places so worn out from terrible farming practices they have almost all the profit tied into inputs.
the ones who take care of the land are the ones who are making the most $$$$..
guy who owns the 700 ac.. plants cover crops on every acre.. and has for the last 15 years... plants corn into 6' tall cover crops.. this years terrible rain?? he was fine.
drought later? he was fine. take care of the land.. and it will take care of you.

my farm here.. is so worn out from crops.. that if i don't throw massive amount of NPK down... i'm not getting almost anytthing...
i have parts that are coal black top soil down to 8'. I got better yields where i lived before with 6" of top soil and clay/rock below that.
