Only a week left til the fun begins Kenny. I got a ton of work left to do as always so it looks like I will be disappointing people for Christmas this year like usual. I just can’t focus when it is in, I gotta go. Will spend the week charging all the radios, gps, and getting the truck ready. Let the being trifling begin!

Hunting with hounds it sounds like, I bet it's a lot of fun. We do have a limited bear seaso here in Oklahoma in the south east corner of the state, no dogs though and you have to check in everyday and see if the quota has been met.

We have a quota of one per person but most of the time we never kill it after the dogs tree.

The dogs don't have to tree it. Season is open now but we can't run dogs during rifle season

I imagine they will be glad to let you knock him out Grit. It’s good for the dogs to have one shot in front of them. You will find a lot of the guys that have killed several or some that haven’t killed any but just love the sport don’t kill them unless they have to though. It’s nothing like deer hunting for sure. Where I hunt we shoot a lot more of them but that’s part of the deal. A damage control sort of thing. The first time your going to a tree and those hounds have the woods at a roar it is awesome. Your in for an experience, if Kenny’s crew is like mine the stories you hear and the people you meet will be as good as any bear you will kill. You can’t have more fun with your clothes on!

I wasn't aware that you could hunt bear while deer season was in. I feel Virginia has the most complicated hunting regulations of any state in the nation. I read the regulations 4 or 5 times and was under the impression that I could shoot an elk if I was lucky enough to see one.

You can shoot an Elk as a deer in the county I live in but not where the hunt lease is. And yes you can shoot a bear this week but can't run it with dogs until next week.

Our bears are all nestled down for a long winter nap. Which ain't a bad idea now that I think about it.

Big group of cows go back on grass tomorrow, little group goes back on hay rings. Wife has all but quit speaking to me, and my kids start to ask me something and then say never mind it’s bear season. Money in the bank and gas in the tank we are ready to roll.
They changed it this year so deer will be legal where I hunt all season if I read the rules right. Probably won’t see any of the big bucks we usually do now. Good luck Kenny, hope you get some great chases in!

4” of fresh snow I couldn’t stop myself. A good tracking snow like that is to good to pass up. I don’t think the snow is supposed to make it up this far but a fella can dream.

They just opened us to bear season here in Haskell county. Sightings have become fairly common over the last two years or so.
