That’s pretty cool!! I’ve always wanted to hunt them things, not so much kill one, but hunt them. Just go out west and hunt em, experience the land and the scenery.

We have a small herd on our bear hunting lease. Was 14 of them this spring. But illegal to kill them in that county. Our lease borders KY so they work both sides of the mountain

Been to Colorado a few times. I'm a little hesitant now with all the CWD prion crap.
I went by myself the first time. Had a cow and bull tag. Got a small cow the second to last day I was able to hunt.
Shot her at about 8 am. Had her quartered by about an hour later. Went pretty fast. But that's when the real work started.
By the time I got those quarters packed out and hoofed it back up that mountain to get each one, I was spent and it was pretty well into the afternoon.
No way was I going to do that again the next day for a bigger animal. I figured I'd bring a horse or 4 wheeler along the next go round. I did, but that's another story, lol.

Good luck with a horse or mule. I worked as a packer for a few years. It takes a certain animal to let you pack meat out on them. They gotta be either broke broke or so stupid that you don't want them around in the first place. I've had some really good solid mules come uncorked when they get a whiff of a quartered mule deer in their pack.

They say we have them here in Oklahoma but I have yet to meet anyone that has seen one or knows where they're at. Over by Lawton. I see them a couple times a year off interstate 44 on the army base, and know a couple guys that hunt them on private ground over there. Also east over there somewhere on one of those wildlife management areas....maybe Cookson? As far as horses, I wouldn't disagree with you. That's why next time it will be 4 wheelers. Lol l

29 public land tags were drawn here in Arkansas yesterday. We will have a 30 to 40 head private land quota.
